Carson Walliser is a Queer theatre artist originally from Swift Current, Saskatchewan. He has worked all over Canada, and currently lives between Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. Carson is dedicated to telling Queer stories onstage and in his writing he explores themes of identity, queerness, Americana, youth and nostalgia. His theatre company Be Kind Rewind focuses on telling stories where the ordinary meets the extraordinary, where spectacle and intimacy meet, and where heart wins over cynicism.
As one of the artists in RISER Regina 2023 Carson wrote, produced, performed and designed in his original musical, “Annette is a Bimbo!” where he starred as Annette. “Annette is a Bimbo!” was largely inspired by the real life Annette Funicello, and stories of Queer joy. Some of his most recent credits include a run as George Gibbs in Thornton Wilder’s, Our Town produced by Little Dipper Theatre, and Costume Design for two Globe Theatre productions in their 2023/2024 season and a term as Costume Coordinator for The Stratford Festival.
Carson is a multi-award winning artist, receiving three BroadwayWorld Awards for the Women’s Company’s Edmonton production of Love, Loss, and What I Wore (Best Play, Best Touring Production, and Best Costume Design), A Best of Venue Award from the Hamilton Fringe Festival, and a Best Actor Nomination from Living Skies Film Festival.
